1. Who we are
Mutero (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides Virtual Fiscal Device (VFD) and ZIMRA FDMS fiscalisation software for businesses in Zimbabwe. This policy explains how we handle personal and business data when you visit mutero.online, create an account, use Mutero Cloud, Mutero Desktop, or related APIs and integrations.

2. Information we collect
We may collect:
- Account data — name, email, password hash (or Google account identifiers if you use Google Sign-In), business profile details, and team memberships.
- Fiscal & business data — VFD configuration, taxpayer identifiers you provide, invoices, receipts, tax mappings, and integration credentials you connect (for example Zoho, Xero, QuickBooks, Odoo, or desktop accounting connectors).
- Payment data — billing status, plan, and Paynow payment references. Card or wallet details are handled by the payment provider where applicable; we do not store full payment card numbers.
- Technical data — IP address, device/browser type, app version, logs needed for security, support, and reliability.
- Communications — messages you send via contact forms, support, or partner applications.
3. How we use information
We use data to:
- Provide fiscalisation, signing, syncing, and related product features
- Authenticate users (including Google Sign-In and optional 2FA)
- Process subscriptions, trials, and billing lifecycle emails
- Operate integrations you enable and write back verification references
- Improve reliability, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations
- Respond to support and partner inquiries
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use fiscal invoice contents for unrelated advertising.
4. Google Sign-In
If you choose Continue with Google, we receive basic profile information from Google (such as verified email, name, and profile image) to create or sign in to your Mutero account. Google's own privacy policy applies to their services. You can disconnect Google access from your Google Account settings; Mutero may still retain your account data as described here until you request deletion.
5. Sharing
We may share data with:
- Infrastructure providers (hosting, email, object storage) under contracts that restrict use to providing services to us
- ZIMRA FDMS / fiscal endpoints as required to submit and verify fiscal documents you initiate
- Accounting/POS systems you explicitly connect
- Payment processors (for example Paynow) to complete billing
- Authorities when required by law, or professional advisors under confidentiality
6. Retention
We retain account and fiscal records for as long as your account is active and as needed to meet tax, audit, and legal retention expectations in Zimbabwe. You may request account closure and deletion of personal data that is not required to be kept by law by contacting hello@mutero.online.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted transport (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls, and encrypted storage of sensitive device credentials where applicable. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; please protect your login credentials and enable 2FA where available.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
We use essential cookies for authentication and session security (for example the Mutero session cookie). Bot-protection tools such as Cloudflare Turnstile may run on forms. These are required for the product to work.
With your consent, we also use analytics cookies and similar technologies from PostHog and Google Analytics to understand how Mutero is used and improve the product. You can Accept analytics or choose Essential only on the cookie banner, and change your choice anytime via Cookie preferences in the site footer. Disabling essential cookies in your browser may prevent sign-in.
9. International transfers
Our primary audience is Zimbabwe. Some infrastructure providers may process data in other regions. Where that occurs, we take steps appropriate to the service so data remains protected consistent with this policy.
10. Children
Mutero is a business product and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Mutero after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy where permitted by law.
